Hiring: Studio Manager

What you'll do

You’ll be the glue of the studio – diligent, organised, and driven. You’ll handle the management of our team and clients, working directly with everyone to make sure that our work is at the highest level, and our communication is clear and consistent. This is a new role for us, so we’re looking for someone who’s willing to help us break new ground as a creative company that doesn’t conform to expectations, and able to push our partners and work into new spaces.

Our projects cover brand, web, graphic design, animation, film, photography, print, and more. No two projects are the same, and we never use the same creative approach twice. That means we need a confident, robust, and reliable structure behind the studio that keeps the fluidity of our work manageable, and consistent. We’re looking for creatives who know what it takes to get work across the line in a way that’s transparent for all parties, and easily tracked for everyone involved.

Alongside this, the Studio Manager role will have responsibility for growing the studio as a company, with business development and sales tasks shared alongside our senior team. You’ll be a critical ambassador for the studio and need to be willing to work your network (and grow it) to help us land the right clients and projects to support our business growth. 

What’s key is that we don’t have plans to have a massive team in the studio. Our goal is to keep our team small, and grow the studio based on the quality of work we deliver, not the volume. As a result, the Studio Manager role will have a very fixed and consistent number of projects to balance, and will play a key role in helping us maintain this consistency while growing the impact of the studio.

Just as importantly to us, we want to make sure we’re looking after our team. We have a great working culture and a solid relationship with our clients – we don’t live to work, and that’s critical for us as a business.

Experience

This is a mid-senior role, so we’re looking for people with at least 5 years’ industry experience. Agency experience is essential. You’ll be joining the studio at a pivotal time, so we’re looking for someone who can hit the ground running.

Personality

We’ll spend all week together, so let’s enjoy ourselves. We’re looking for someone with great interpersonal skills, a good attitude, and a decent-to-admirable sense of humor. Excellent communication and organisational skills are a must.

We don’t do anything in half measures. Since opening the studio in 2020, we’ve always pushed, never compromised, and continually chased the unexpected. We’re looking for a member of the team who pushes us, our ideas, and the creative landscape into new ground.

We’ll always look for people who are confident and comfortable, both with work and with people. We ask that you have the following:

– Excellent client communication and project management experience
– Ability to lead with onboarding new clients and projects, integrating key stakeholders with the studio and our team
– Developed leadership skills, helping creatives of all experience levels to grow and develop under your direction
– Proficient at developing and growing client and partner relationships
– Ability to seamlessly manage projects across sectors, deliverables, and timelines
– Proactive and driven, willing to make sure every project delivered is as good as it can be
– Commitment to continuously pushing boundaries, both internally and for clients
– Relentless organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables within
– Conceptually-led thinking, with a strategic approach and appreciation for the clarity of how ideas can be explained
– Natural and proactive problem-solving skills
– Ability to increase the studio’s efficiency and productivity
– Strategic approach to business development and sales
– Confident and assured in pitching, discovery, and concept delivery
– Skilled in using Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, WordPress/Craft CMS or similar, and Figma
– Ability to work on the move, and manage our team and freelance network when necessary
